Interporto Padua starts construction of a new logistics and production building for Chimab Spa

12 September 2017

Interporto Padova Spa will construct a new building by March 2019, which will then be made available for lease to Chimab Spa, a company that is part of the international Brenntag group. Chimab is one of the world’s leading suppliers of food ingredients and functional semi-finished products for the food industry. The new building, which will be developed on two floors, will be built on a lot of about 28,000 square metres owned by Interporto Padova Spa, located at the confluence of Via Inghilterra and Via Nuova Zelanda, and will have a gross floor area of about 12,500 square metres, which will be used partly for warehousing, partly for production and research laboratories, as well as offices of course. Interporto Padova’s investment is about 8 million euro, against a 6-year lease by Chimab, renewable for another 6 years. About 50 workers will be employed at the new site in Via Inghilterra, which may grow to about a hundred in the coming years, depending on the commercial development foreseen by Chimab.

“We are particularly pleased to have concluded this agreement with Brenntag Spa and Chimab Spa,” comments Interporto Padua President Sergio Gelain, “which confirms our ability to offer companies quality solutions, tailor-made and turnkey, in absolutely competitive times. I would also like to emphasise another aspect, that Chimab at this site will not only do logistics but also production and research, and this is an important sign of how companies are settling today where they can take advantage of excellent logistics services. Interporto Padua can therefore be a significant attractor of quality manufacturing and research companies both in its own perimeter and in the entire Industrial Area”.

“The building that Interporto Padova will construct for us is exactly what we needed in the best possible location,” comments Ignazio Vullo, President of Brenntag Italia and Chimab. “We are a very dynamic and growing company, with a global market, so logistics for us is one of the fundamental components of our business and our value creation chain. The new site optimises the flow of goods and expands the space dedicated to production and application laboratories. The very tight construction schedule of the new building also convinced us that this is the best choice’.

The real estate advisor for the operation was GVA Redilco, one of the most important Italian real estate companies, while the executive design of the new building (paid for by Brenntag itself) was entrusted to the engineering company Arvalli & Associati of Padua.
