Dissegna Logistics inaugurated the expansion of its logistics hub in Padua yesterday at a ceremony attended by top management, customers, suppliers and partners. The areas located within Interporto Padua thus reach the considerable surface area of 5000 square metres, including warehouses, offices and car parks, confirming the importance of the Padua hub for the development of the company’s business, which has rail-road intermodality as one of its main growth drivers. Padua is in fact the arrival/destination terminal for intermodal trains dedicated to semitrailers serving central/northern Europe.
The new spaces thus house both the office that coordinates the operational activity of intermodal traffic, and a sales office dedicated to all the services offered, both in Italy and in Europe. A choice that also took into account the forthcoming expansion of intermodal services dedicated to semitrailers by Interporto Padua, which next year will inaugurate a dedicated loading and unloading yard and a track in the terminal served by electric gantry cranes. Connections and volumes will thus be able to grow easily.
Dissegna Logistics already has a staff of around ten in the warehouses and plans to create a stable base at Interporto of around 30 vehicles, and therefore as many drivers, for the terminalisation of arriving and departing semitrailers.
Ilario Dissegna, CEO of the historic company, which has its headquarters in Rossano Veneto, comments: “We are very happy to expand our logistics hub here at the Padua Freight Village, which is in a strategic position both for its rail connections and its location with respect to the motorway network, but which is also at the forefront of terminal management with the use of the most advanced technologies, including digital ones. It is the same philosophy that guides our company, bringing innovation and quality to a sector, that of logistics, which is often still tied to tradition. Efficiency and sustainability, also through rail and maritime intermodality, together with the attention we pay to our employees, starting with the drivers, are essential for us. Our goal for the next few years is to consolidate our presence in the various European markets in which we operate, also by opening offices on site”.
Dissegna Logistics, founded in 1986, today employs 300 people at its various locations and has a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles. Last year it carried out 57,000 shipments throughout Europe with a growth of 17% compared to the previous year.
Franco Pasqualetti, president of Interporto Padova, emphasises: ‘I want to say thank you to Dissegna Logistics who chose us to develop their logistics hub. It is a great company, with a precise vision of the future that we share. It is also thanks to their willingness to intensively develop intermodality with semi-trailers that our project to dedicate an ad hoc area under the gantry cranes to these vehicles was able to take off. Our mission is to be at the service of logistics operators, following the evolutions of the market, as well as the most advanced technical solutions; this is why we are working on terminal automation that will guarantee even more streamlined and efficient operations. We are happy that Dissegna Logistics, by choosing to expand its presence here, appreciates our commitment”.
